A long-term sustainment and development project in partnership with Iglesias Comunidad de Amor.
For several years we have been seeking God's guidance on the vision and growth plan for His ministry through us in Honduras. We are now raising funds to begin the next chapter of expansion!
The farm is located in the village of Aldea Las Flores, in El Paraiso, Honduras. It contains about 26 manzanas of land (about 40 acres), with 20 manzanas planted with roughly 70,000 coffee trees.
Currently, the farm produces about 18,000 pounds of green coffee beans per year, which is sold wholesale locally in Honduras. There is one family employed year-round for groundskeeping and maintenance, with additional workers hired annually during the harvest season.
Our goal is to acquire the coffee farm within the next 1-2 years! ZERO United States residents will receive a salary from this project—all proceeds will directly benefit or employ Honduran nationals.
The existing trees are nearing the end of their productive lifespan and have not been fertilized recently. Immediately after acquisition, we plan to begin fertilizing the existing trees to enhance production.
Additional plans for short-term growth and community development:
As the farm becomes self-sustaining and profitable, our long-term objectives are focused entirely on expanding our impact in Honduras.
Since U.S. Corporations cannot directly own land in Honduras, this project includes the cost of forming a Honduran subsidiary of Hands of Mercy and the legal fees associated with the purchase.
